Meet Carla

A human connection.
A place to begin.

I’m Carla Tilghman, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor serving adolescents and adults in Arkansas. This practice begins with a simple intention: to offer a welcoming space where people can feel heard and explore what matters to them.

My approach

My approach is shaped by curiosity, compassion, and an appreciation for the connection between mind and body. Alongside understanding how past experiences affect the present, I value helping clients explore what gives their lives meaning, connection, and direction. Your experiences and values guide our work together.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy yoga, hiking, spending time in nature, being with my family, and traveling—often with indie folk music as the soundtrack. My experiences as a mother and my background in law enforcement inform my perspective, while I remain curious about each person’s unique story.

My areas of focus include EMDR, perinatal mental health, and support for first responders and healthcare professionals.

Counseling

Room for what you’re carrying.

I work with adolescents and adults, with particular interests in trauma, the transition to parenthood, and the experiences of first responders and healthcare professionals.

01

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the approaches I offer in counseling. We can discuss whether it fits your needs and goals.

02

Perinatal mental health

I have training in perinatal mental health and offer support during pregnancy, postpartum, and the adjustment to parenthood.

03

First responders & healthcare

Support for people in demanding service roles, with space to explore occupational stress, difficult experiences, and their impact on life beyond the shift.

First responders & healthcare professionals

Caring for those
who care for others.

Support for first responders and healthcare professionals navigating demanding work, difficult experiences, and life beyond the shift.

First responders

I entered law enforcement in 2012. My background in both counseling and law enforcement gives me familiarity with the culture, responsibilities, and pressures of the job. Whether you’re carrying difficult calls, feeling constantly on alert, or struggling to leave work at work, counseling offers space to talk about what you’re experiencing.

Healthcare professionals

I also welcome healthcare professionals seeking support with the emotional demands of caring for others. There is room to talk about loss, exhaustion, difficult patient experiences, and the pressure to keep going—as well as who you are and what you need outside of work.

Pregnancy, postpartum & the transition to parenthood

Care for you,
as you care for others.

As a mother, I appreciate how much life can change during pregnancy and postpartum—the interrupted sleep, shifting identity, and pressure to keep going while caring for someone else. My own experience does not tell me what yours has been; I want to understand what this season is like for you. Alongside my training in perinatal mental health, that perspective informs a compassionate space where you can talk openly about the feelings that don’t always fit the expectations of parenthood.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, or simply unlike yourself, you deserve care and support, too.
